This season I was hunting WAY LESS than previous seasons. We had a baby back in the summer, and I knew I needed to be home more than other hunting seasons to help with the little guy.
To make my punches count, I decided I would wait to hunt until breeding season, and focus on mornings when the temperature would drop. This would be the time when the most deer would be moving through the woods, and I would have the best chance of getting my buck tag filled.
I waited and waited. Finally the time was right!
My daughter and I spent a nice morning together in the stand together, but saw no deer. A week later, the temperature dropped, to cold to bring my kids out with me. So alone I went to a new spot I had NEVER hunted before.
I got out late, as the baby had been fussing and I needed to get him back to sleep.
Once I finally got up in the tree I sat still and waited. About noon this big PA Hardwoods Buck walked through!
A few minutes later it was all over and I had a whole bunch of meat to get in my freezer!
