Big life changes are bound to bring up disagreements. When your dealing with decisions as big as where your going to live, emotions can be challenged.
This week one of us broke the news to their family before the other one of us was ready.
The family wasn’t exactly excited. This is never fun.
Suddenly your having to defend your dream to rationally minded people who think your going crazy. And we all know how effective it is to tell people your not crazy when they think your acting crazy….
Some of the family members felt we were hoping for a “utopia”, deciding to spend life on the road searching for the perfect home. Another described us as “gypsies”.
As is usually the case in a marriage, problems with in laws become problems with each other.
It’s important to try to be on the same page when dealing with big life decisions. Still, 2 people can never be on the same page all the time.
It wasn’t too big a deal. We knew this was coming. Family is not going to love the idea.
The most important thing is that at the end of the day, we try to handle all matters regards the relocation as together as we can. And we were able to, after a few “serious discussions” (as we refer to them to the kids…) get back on track as a team looking forward.
