Lately, I have seen a version of this comment pop up on our videos…
I AM NOT WATCHING ANYMORE. You guys have too many downer videos.
Recently we have covered a lot of things that have gone wrong on our channel, because, well, sometimes a lot goes wrong on a homestead.
It’s ok, I understand, if you come to youtube to get a little escape from the stress of our lives during this crazy time we live in, pandemics, riots and unrest, financial problems… who wants to add a couple of sick cows to that?
(That is what our video this week was about. We have more sick cows.)
So like I said, if you come to Youtube for a little escape, you just want to see some fuzzy cows and cute baby goats,
maybe our channel isn’t the place for you right now.
I started Homesteady to show the Reality of Homesteading, the Good, Bad and the Ugly.
Sometimes that means the videos will be happy, good ones, like this one I did with my good buddy Uncle Bourbon
Sometimes the videos will be about something sad, or bad, that has happened to us on the homestead, like the one we just did about our cows aborting their pregnancies and trying to figure out why.
Sometimes they might even be considered UGLY videos by some, like the recent one I made about Butchering Pigs that got so many people angry over my UGLY thumbnail.
The point is that we started Homesteady to share ALL sides of Homesteading. Some days those are beautiful drone shots of animals grazing fresh pastures under rainbows (I literally have that video) and other day’s it’s ugly crying over the death of your daughter’s goat.
I have always wanted to inspire my audience to lead a more “Homesteady” life, but I can not in good conscience do that without sharing the downs along with the ups. I don’t want anyone to say I didn’t warn them.
If you enjoy all the sides we share, thanks. Please take a moment to share us with a friend who you think would enjoy our channel.
We would truly love to be able to share our story with more people.
Just make sure they know we are not a fuzzy goat baby channel.
😉
-Aust could use a good video too, it’s been a rough few months.
PS: If you really really like our good bad and ugly approach, and want to help us produce this show, CLICK HERE to become a Homesteady Pioneer. On Jan 23rd, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time K and I will be doing our first Private Livestream with the Homesteady Pioneers of 2021. We will be discussing the Good, Bad and Ugly from 2020, and sharing the lessons we learned. You won’t want to miss it!

I like your videos because you are honest about life on a homestead. It is a balance.
I love & appreciate hearing about the reality of it, so that I, a soon to be homesteader, know what I’m getting myself into. I don’t want to have some far fetched ideas & although I do love seeing all of the cute animals, I want to set my expectations realistically. So thank you!
