We Installed THIS FROST FREE HYDRANT
If you own livestock then you probably need to have running water near your barn. Unfortunately most setups need to be shut down for the winter. BUT NOT A YARD HYDRANT!
How a yard hydrant works
Yard Hydrants are frost free, as the water in them above the ground drains out below the frost line. When the lever is lifted water flows up the pipe and out of the hydrant. When the lever is lowered, water drains back down the pipe and into the ground, underneath the frost line.
How Do You Install a Yard Hydrant?
To install a yard hydrant you need to trench a waterline from your well to the location of the hydrant. Once you have trenched to the location you want the hydrant in you will need to dig a hole for the yard hydrant.
How deep do you bury a yard hydrant?
A hydrant should be buried below the frost line, which may be as deep as 4 feet or more in some places. Once the yard hydrant is attached to the well line, backfill it and turn on the water.
It is as simple as that!
