I might be a weird one, but I came to your channel to learn things. I do not think I learn things in the shorts. But the last few longer interview you did were not as much focused on skills but more learning about people story. I do not mind that, but I think a mix of the 2 is usually what I am looking for. The battles style episodes were fun. But in the end that is why I am a pioneer. I get the content I want here more then on you tube.
Pier-Anne, The more we poll the audiance, and test our content, the more we see (and to be honest are quite proud of this) most people came here to learn! And I agree, K and I were just talking about how to be sure we get lots of skills and education in each interview, not just story. Story can be inspiring, for sure, but we need both! Thanks for the input!
They are both very helpful. My issue is time. During the late spring, summer and early fall most of my time is out working. I scan then for current need and play catch up when I can (normally colder weather or rain and snow).
I would suggest longer podcasts during the slower tines (is there any) and short vlogs during the busy time. Also, using some of the vlog material (Teasers) for upcoming podcasts/pioneer videos.
Again my life has changed. I now watch more than I listen. However, our homestead has grown thanks in part to Homesteady. I tend to focus more on lessons rather than farm-chore content these days.
Keep up the good work.
I find the podcast easier to “digest” when I’m working around the acreage/mowing, string trimming. An alternative that (might) be helpful is to take the audio from a longer vlog style post and post the AUDIO only on the podcast channel. (Mr. Ballen does this, and he has several million subs)
To be honest, I “listen only” to a lot of the vlogs because I am working. I may re-watch an episode I have listened to that needs more brain attention. (Some episodes I have watched several times. Baby camel content…..who knew?)
I have a long commute and don’t have time to watch videos, but I do listen to every single podcast on Spotify. I just joined Homesteady this month actually since I finished all the ones on Spotify and wanted to have access to “the full library.” I definitely come to your channel in particular because y’all take the time to break things down and deep dive into topics, so no complaints here about the long episodes!

Rich, that is a great idea! A summer and winter version of Homesteady! Would help me a ton 😉

I love the podcast! Who else will keep me company when I’m moving fence since I banished my husband from ever helping me again??

I do this too, I’ll have a YT video playing on my phone in my pocket. Great feedback Amy!
