Hey,
I just started listening to this podcast, (https://www.thisishomesteady.com/999-days-left-change-life/)
I thought you might like it.
This guy runs a farm, has pigs, cows, chickens, and even camels lol! He breaks down the steps of how his wife and he quit their jobs and moved to the country, and live off the land. It’s pretty cool, helps you figure out how to ditch the 9 to 5 and do what you want for a living.
Let me know if you like it!

I am interested how the next episode plays out 🙂

Would be awesome to have a forum of folks listening to these. I’ll be honest here, I sort of doubt I ever ditch my job unless it moves somewhere I don’t like, or some other similar situation. But I want my kids to have at least a facsimile of the experiences I did growing up on the farm. I also love sharing farm products with people. So if my little homestead just paid its own expenses through reduced costs to me in groceries etc and through income from sales I’d be ecstatic.
I applaud y’all who are doing this thing full time. I’m doing it as a full time employee who spends lots of time with my two kids also so farm chores are nights and weekends for me. I’m hoping my retirement looks like at least a nice 40 acres of woods, fields, and friends, with the ability to pass on what I know to kids, hopefully grandkids, and whoever might be interested. Props to all of you.

Noah, cool idea, you would like to have the episodes appear as a forum post and let people talk it out after listening? Also, that Homestead paying for itself goal is a great one! That is kinda what we started shooting for early on. Great goat to work towards!

I am really excited about this! It couldn’t have come at a better time. I have been thinking I would like to change some things about my life and where it is going. My biggest hurdle is I have a lot of people I love and respect that are nah sayers. I tell them my what I dream to have one day and how I want to live. They say”you can’t do that!” Or “you’re not good enough to do that” trouble with that is that I listened to that at an early age and it got me nowhere. I have not done anything in my life I wanted to because I listened to them. I am now older and almost done raising my children and ready for my next chapter. It is going to be filled with the things I want to do because I can do them even if they couldn’t.

Great idea! I love this initiative, can’t wait for the next episode! We’ve been digital nomads for the past 5 years, since Covid-19 we’ve returned home and now testing the homesteading dream on 35 leased acres before we take the plunge and buy. Really looking forward to following this podcast 🙂

Sometimes you just need a friendly nudge to take your own advice. This year I’ve seen tons of friends and clients take their dreams and start amazing side hustles and when they were told to come back to work, they didn’t. Their businesses have succeeded. I think all we need to do is take our own advice from time-to-time. Thank you Aust! Just what we need at the right time.
