LIVE SHOW ON FRIDAY ABOUT FARM FENCING… But first…
This fall we were getting ZERO eggs from our large flock of chickens.
It is normal for egg production to slow in the fall, but not to go to ZERO.
So we started paying closer attention to our birds, and noticed we had an EGG EATER!
Over the last decade of homesteading we have tried many ways to stop egg eaters.
Changing their diet, using fake eggs, even one time we hollowed an egg shell out and poured spicy mustard inside the shell to fool the chicken into eating a “spicy” egg… hopefully convincing the chicken eggs are gross…
But to NO AVAIl!
Over time we have found the one true solution to stopping an egg eater… is the STEW POT.
Now when we catch a chicken eating eggs, she gets eaten.
In our latest video we witnessed an egg eater in action, but was she the only one!?!?

If you have plans on getting chickens, or any other animals this coming season… you have better have your farm infrastructure ready.
Arguably the MOST IMPORTANT infrastructure for your animals is a good fence, because let’s face it, without a good farm fence, they are not YOUR animals for long.
Tomorrow, Friday night, Feb 11, at 6 PM Eastern Time we will have Eli Mack from Kencove Farm Fencing live on our Youtube channel to help us understand HOW to design our homestead fence, and he will be taking questions too!
If you are planning any farm projects this year you wont want to miss this show!

Don’t forget, if you can’t make the live shows and don’t want to WATCH the video version, you can always listen to our interviews, subscribe to our Podcast to listen to our weekly shows! Our LATEST PODCAST EPISODE recapped our hunting season!
Hope to see you Friday night at the live show!

Hello,
I’m so glad you caught an egg eater! just wanted to let you know that I have had a couple of issues over the years with egg eaters and I didn’t have a camera so I just looked at their beaks and every time there would be yoke dried on the beaks of the problem birds. Off with the heads! We live in Clearfield County Pa. We produce freezer beef and we raise lambs(we have 2 ewes we purchased from your Aunts and we have many ewes from the ram we purchased from them also), and we have a few chickens. We have 20 laying hens and we get 19-20 eggs a day. 15-16 hours of light. We feed only Kalmbach 17% layer crumbles. Awesome tasting eggs with this feed! We can’t free range our birds due to a population of bobcats, coyotes and fishers.
Enjoy your family and farm!

Hi Ruth! No way! You got some family sheep! Cool. We’re glad we caught her too. It was like someone turned on the egg switch! Next day we had a dozen eggs!
