Why is this chick so special?
Because this is the first 100% Squash Hollow animal on the farm.
This chick is Rihanna’s! She is our first and oldest hen, and with the help of peeper the rooster, she is hatching her own baby chicks!

The best part is that we had no Idea! A few weeks ago we stumbled upon Rihanna in our pig pasture, sitting on more than a dozen eggs.
So we gathered her and her eggs up, not knowing if they were fertilized, (although watching our rooster chase Rihannah around, we had high hopes) and placed them safely in the coop!
Then we waited….
This morning we finally heard a peep!
One healthy Aurocana New Hampshire cross chick has hatched, and were waiting to see how many finally hatch! So exciting!
