What tractor attachments do I need? Many new homesteaders find themselves asking this question!
We asked Tractor Mike, from the Ask Tractor Mike Youtube Channel, what are the best attachments for homesteaders?
- Front End Loader – DON’T EVER BUY A TRACTOR WITHOUT A FRONT END LOADER! Even if you never use it your resale value with go up with an attached front end loader. And Mike promises that you will use it… more than you expected!
- Rotary Cutter – Bush hog or Brush hog, whatever you call it, the rough cut rotary cutter is important for a homesteader to maintain their property, and 90% of tractors come with them now.
- Box Blade – NOT to be confused with a strait blade, a box blade helps a homesteader grade their gravel driveways. The box blade can adjust to the contours of the long and bumpy driveway your country property will probably have and you will need this attachment to maintain it.
- Strait Blade – This blade is not for maintaining a driveway, it is actually for snow removal. SO if you live down south skip this one, but us northerners need one!
- Post Hole Digger – Half of a farmers job is fencing. Whether it is keeping animals in or keeping animals out, your new homestead will probably need some fencing, and a post hole digger helps speed this process up!
- FORKS – A good set of pallet forks can move almost anything, whether its a pallet of wood pellets, animal feed, logs for fire wood, or a tank full of water for livestock, a pallet fork set will help you out in all kinds of areas around the homestead!
